Crank of the Week - March 7, 2011 - Staffan Nilsson
Proving that European politicians can rival any others in the world for inane and comtemptable statements, Staffan Nilsson, a climate change fanatic, has linked the horrific earthquake and tsunami in Japan to global warming. “Some islands affected by climate change have been hit,” said Nilsson. “Has not the time come to demonstrate on solidarity — not least solidarity in combating and adapting to climate change and global warming?” What miserable despicable sophistry, what callous contemptible opportunism. Eco-idiocy has sunk to a new low.
Just hours after a massive earthquake rattled Japan, environmental advocates began a predictable attempt to link the natural disaster to global warming. The president of the European Economic and Social Committee, Staffan Nilsson, issued a statement calling for solidarity in tackling the global warming problem. The EESC president’s statement on the natural disaster in Japan and the Pacific region was released on March 11:
On behalf of the EESC, I should like to express my sympathy with all the families of the victims in Japan. We stand shoulder to shoulder with all the people now struggling with the unfolding devastating effects of the earthquake in the Pacific region.
The human and material damage is immense, and the EESC members’ thoughts are with the Japanese people and government.
We express our support to our partners in those ACP countries potentially affected by this natural disaster.
This is a time for solidarity, and we urge the EU and other international organisations to provide immediate and appropriate assistance, if needed, to help governments and civil society organisations in the region deal with this tragedy. We also call on humanitarian civil society organisations to react quickly to provide support to Japan and all the other affected countries.
The earthquake and tsunami will clearly have a severe impact on the economic and social activities of the region. Some islands affected by climate change have been hit. Has not the time come to demonstrate on solidarity – not least solidarity in combating and adapting to climate change and global warming? Mother Nature has again given us a sign that that is what we need to do.
The first part, where he calls on EU and international organizations to cooperate in aiding the victims of the natural disaster, is both appropriate and fitting. It is in that last paragraph where he plunges into the warmist sewer, where sanity and compassion are abandon, that the supercilious Swedish farmer's true nature is revealed. All we can say is “you bloody sanctimonious ass.” How can anyone with even a shred of human decency try to score political points by playing on the suffering of the Japanese people? At times like this it is regrettable that tar & feathering has gone out of style.
Does he really think there is a “Mother Nature” that is punishing us and if only we cooled the Earth humanity would no longer suffer the burden of earthquakes, hurricanes, floods and volcanoes? Nilsson is either a scum sucking political bottom feeder, taking advantage of other's misfortune and suffering, or a congenital idiot. Either reality speaks volumes about the organization he heads and the people who support him. So, with as much loathing as we can muster, this Crank of the Week is all yours Staffan Nilsson.
